Trick Daddy & Trina Take Miami Rap to Grand Theft Auto VI

1w ago

Miami hip-hop royalty Trick Daddy and Trina are about to bring their signature sound to one of the biggest entertainment franchises on the planet. The longtime collaborators are slated to host the "Dirty South Classics" radio station in Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, embedding Miami's rich musical heritage directly into the game's fictional Vice City.

Rockstar Games officially announced the power pairing on October 8, 2026. Players can look forward to tuning into Trick and Trina's station when the game drops on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Their station promises a curated selection of older Southern rap records, designed to perfectly soundtrack the game's Florida-inspired world.

Key tracks teased for the "Dirty South Classics" station include David Banner and Lil' Flip's "Like A Pimp," JT Money and Solé's "Who Dat," and DJ Khaled's "Born N Raised," which notably features Trick Daddy alongside Rick Ross and Pitbull. This authentic selection comes courtesy of Slip-N-Slide Records founder Ted Lucas, who played a crucial role in curating the station's playlist, adding his label's significant input to the game's expansive music choices.

Both Trick Daddy, born Maurice Young in Miami, and Trina, born Katrina Laverne Taylor from Liberty City, have deep roots in the Miami music scene. Trick Daddy kicked off his career in 1996, first appearing on Luke's "Scarred" before being signed by Ted Lucas to Slip-N-Slide Records. His debut album, *Based on a True Story*, arrived in 1997, and he later achieved national stardom with his 2001 hit "I'm a Thug," earning a platinum certification for his album *Thugs Are Us*.

Trina, who initially pursued real estate, found her musical breakthrough with her appearance on Trick Daddy's 1998 hit single "Nann." That track climbed to number three on the Billboard Rap Songs chart, solidifying both artists' presence and the Slip-N-Slide label nationally. Known for her consistency, Trina released her gold-certified debut album *Da Baddest Bitch* in 2000, followed by other successful projects like *Diamond Princess* in 2002 and *Still da Baddest* in 2008, which topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Their shared catalog also includes other notable collaborations such as "Shut Up" and "Take It to Da House."

This isn't the first time the duo has teamed up to deliver their chemistry to listeners. They previously hosted the "Trick & Trina Morning Show" on Miami's WEDR 99 Jamz, a venture that was announced in 2019 for a 2020 launch and ran until 2021. Trina commented on that earlier radio experience, stating, "We were talking about it for a while and the opportunity came about to us so we just decided to say yeah."

Ted Lucas, a 25-year veteran of the music business, founded Slip-N-Slide Records in Miami in 1994. He has been instrumental in discovering and developing platinum-selling artists like Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, and Pitbull, collectively selling over 30 million records. Lucas remarked on the significance of their involvement, saying, "Trick Daddy and Trina helped put Miami on the map. Dirty South Classics is a celebration of the sound we helped create and the legacy we've built over the years." Trick Daddy himself echoed this sentiment, stating, "Me and Trina been representing Miami and the South from day one... We still here, we still working, and we still making history."

The inclusion of Trick Daddy and Trina underscores *Grand Theft Auto VI*'s commitment to an authentic and diverse musical experience, reflecting the game's immersive world. The game's music preview page reveals an extensive lineup of other radio stations and celebrity hosts. Flash FM, a returning favorite from *Grand Theft Auto: Vice City*, will feature Robyn and model Alex Consani on pop duties. Cocoteo FM will bring modern Latin music with Bad Bunny, appearing as El Martillo, and RaiNao, as La Gata. RaiNao expressed her excitement, noting, "It feels incredibly special to lend my voice to GTA VI and do it in the best way possible: having fun, embodying a character who's like me, and putting our culture, our music, and our people in the spotlight." AfroBank FM will offer African music, from classics to contemporary amapiano, curated by Burna Boy and Palms Trax. Country fans can tune into Back Country Radio, hosted by Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey, the latter appearing as Delta Dawne, alongside Del Rey's husband Jeremy Dufrene voicing Mud Dog Mike, a roving reporter. Lana Del Rey shared a personal connection to the game, stating, "One of the coolest things about [being in GTA 6] is the fact that the first time some of our family got to L.A., they actually knew the roads because of playing [GTA V]. On so many different levels, this is super special and a privilege. Can't wait to get into the game and start playing." Metal enthusiasts will find their fix on The Chamber 106.6, hosted by Tom Araya and Kerry King of Slayer. For the first time, *Grand Theft Auto VI* will also allow protagonists Jason and Lucia to listen to music and podcasts outside of vehicles using in-game smartphones with headphones, adding another layer to the immersive audio experience.

Beyond the radio stations, Rockstar is also releasing *Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album* on November 19, a separate collection of 34 original tracks. Announced on September 17, 2026, in partnership with Atlantic Records, the album boasts a genre-defying roster of artists. Preview singles include tracks from Travis Scott, Cardi B, Yung Lean, Future, and Metro Boomin, with the full album also featuring artists such as Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred Again, Étienne de Crécy, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, and Keith Richards. The album will be available on streaming platforms, CD, and vinyl, with a limited-edition vinyl selling out quickly.

This extensive musical integration highlights the *Grand Theft Auto* series' long-standing tradition of using music to define its immersive worlds and cultural landscapes. For Trick Daddy and Trina, their role in *Grand Theft Auto VI* solidifies their place not just in Miami's musical history, but in a global cultural phenomenon, ensuring that the sound of the Dirty South will echo across millions of gaming consoles worldwide.
