Leading up to the main event, several chains rolled out early bird specials. Dairy Queen Rewards members, for instance, could enjoy $1 off any Signature Stackburger from May 25 through May 31 by using the DQ Mobile App. Shake Shack offered a free ShackBurger with a minimum $10 purchase between May 25 and May 31, redeemable online or in-app with the code FREEBURGER. Sonic Drive-In also gave its rewards members a free Sonic Smasher or All-American Smasher with a $5 purchase, a deal valid for nearly the entire month, from May 4 through May 31. Not to be outdone, Burger King provided a delivery-only offer: a free regular Whopper with the purchase of a Bounty BBQ Whopper for delivery from May 4 to May 31 at participating locations via their app and website.

When National Hamburger Day finally hit on Thursday, May 28, the single-day promotions exploded. Smashburger invited customers to grab any single burger for just $5.28, either by using the code 528SINGLE for online orders or mentioning the offer in-store. Wayback Burgers treated its Rewards program members to $5 Classic Burgers, limited to two per order, with the code $5CLASS for online use. Bad Daddy's Burger Bar joined in, offering its All-American Burger and a classic side for $10 at participating locations. Burger King Royal Perks members could score a free hamburger with any purchase of $3 or more through the Burger King app or website, while Checkers and Rally's ran a Buy One Get One Free Classic Burger deal that covered both May 27 and May 28.

Whataburger Rewards members were eligible for a free Whataburger when ordering a medium fry and medium drink online or by scanning their app in-store. The chain also held a special giveaway, offering a year's worth of food to those who placed an order on May 28. Even celebrity chef Bobby Flay's Bobby's Burgers offered its signature Crunchburger for $5.28, showcasing the widespread participation across the culinary spectrum. Other notable deals included Buffalo Wild Wings, which gave new rewards members a free burger with a $15 or more purchase, and also offered 50% off any burger ordered through Buffalo Wild Wings GO for takeout or delivery using the promo code GOBURGER.

Burger 21 had $5 Cheesy burgers, and White Castle offered a 10-Sack of Original Sliders for $8.99, alongside other discounted sacks via its app. Krystal's Club Krystal members enjoyed $0.50 Krystals as an in-app exclusive. Perkins American Food Co. presented a burger, fries, and a slice of pie deal for $9.99, while Ruby Tuesday featured a single patty American Smashed Burger with fries or tots and the Endless Garden Bar for $8.99. Sullivan's Steakhouse offered a $15 Signature Angus Burger and fries for online orders or during Happy Hour. The Greene Turtle provided a Buy One Get One Free classic burger deal. Hardee's and Carl's Jr. gave My Rewards members a Buy One Get One Famous Star burger for one cent via their apps. Irv's Burgers delighted the first 50 guests with a free Roadside Single on May 28 by mentioning a secret code.
