NYC Influencer Claims Free Nespresso, Viewers Call Cap

3w ago

A New York City influencer dropped a "life hack" that quickly went viral, claiming Nespresso stores hand out free lattes to anyone who walks in. The video, shared by Jaeda (@jaeda_skye), amassed over half a million views, sparking both excitement and a wave of skepticism across social media.

Jaeda, who stated she doesn't own a coffee machine in New York, decided to test out her theory. She filmed her experience walking into a city Nespresso location, where she described a setup with various machines and pods available for tasting. According to her, customers can simply "walk in there, grab a capsule, and then make your own coffee." She reported trying her first beverage, calling it "so good." Fortuitously, the store was also hosting a coffee masterclass, which led to her receiving a second latte, described as "super delicious." For Jaeda, the experience was akin to "Disneyland."

Nespresso stores are known to feature tasting bars, which offer potential customers complimentary beverages and tastings. These sessions allow shoppers to sample different pods, including seasonal selections and regular offerings. While some reports indicate that customer experiences can vary depending on the specific location, employees are generally available to provide recommendations to shoppers. One reviewer, after visiting a Nespresso boutique in New York City, noted sampling choices before buying, describing the setting as "relaxing" and a "welcome surprise," vowing to return.

However, the widespread appeal of Jaeda's hack was quickly met with a reality check from other social media users. Many viewers found the claim "a little too good to be true," suggesting that some locations might have caveats or might not offer full-sized lattes for free.

A commenter claiming to be a former Nespresso employee directly challenged parts of Jaeda's account. They asserted that stores primarily offer tastings of capsules, not necessarily large lattes. Furthermore, they stated that many locations stopped offering milk after the pandemic, and that ice was never a standard offering, implying Jaeda's access to such options was an exception due to a particularly "super nice" employee. This former employee maintained that the standard offering is mainly "espresso and sugar."

Beyond the specifics of the "free latte" claim, other commenters voiced general critiques of Nespresso. Some expressed a dislike for the coffee's taste, while others recounted negative experiences at physical locations, citing rude staff and high prices, leading them to prefer online ordering. One person even questioned the authenticity of Jaeda's video, speculating it might be undisclosed branded content and suggesting her positive experience was due to being "invited to film," thus not reflecting the typical customer interaction.

The allure of a good life hack is strong, especially in a city like New York, but the online discussion around Jaeda's Nespresso claim highlights the gap between individual experiences and broader customer realities. With questions lingering about the consistency of Nespresso's tasting policies and the nature of influencer content, the full picture remains to be seen, as attempts to reach Jaeda and Nespresso for comment have not yet received a response.
