BritBox is shaking up the classic mystery genre, officially dropping the first teaser trailer for its highly anticipated drama, "Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence." The streaming service confirmed that the six-part series will make its debut on September 15, 2026, for audiences in the United States and Canada. This upcoming adaptation is notable for bringing Agatha Christie's beloved detective duo, Tommy and Tuppence, into the modern era for the first time in an English-language television production.

The project was first announced by BritBox in June 2025, detailing a contemporary, six-episode retelling of the classic narratives. The casting for the lead roles soon followed, with Antonia Thomas, Josh Dylan, and Imelda Staunton officially confirmed on August 20, 2025, to headline the series. Just two days later, on August 22, 2025, more details emerged, revealing that the modern-day setting would serve as a "surprise twist" for the new adaptation. Filming for the series began in London, with additional cast members, including Saffron Burrows, Sean Pertwee, and Alex Jennings, joining the production by September 16, 2025. The show is reportedly set in present-day Hampstead.

The three top stars leading the series bring significant talent to the project. Antonia Thomas, known for her roles in "The Good Doctor" and "Still Up," steps into the character of Tuppence. She is described as "an actress and force of nature who won't take no for an answer." Josh Dylan, recognized for his work in "Buccaneers" and "Mamma Mia 2," takes on the role of Tommy, characterized as "a meticulous, charming crime writer who has lost his passion but finds it again when whirlwind Tuppence re-enters his life." Rounding out the main trio is Imelda Staunton, celebrated for her performances in the "Harry Potter" and "Paddington" films, portraying Aunt Ada, a formidable, retired private detective. The ensemble cast also includes Nicholas Richardson as Julius, Charlie Condou as Albert, Callie Cooke as Detective Sergeant Draper, and Chizzy Akudolu as Detective Inspector Merriot, with guest appearances by Sebastian De Souza, Denise Black, and Alice Krige.

Behind the scenes, the series is penned by Phoebe Eclair-Powell, who also serves as an executive producer. This marks her inaugural drama series commission for television, following her previous work on projects like "The Road Trip" and "Harm." Directing duties are split, with Fergus O'Brien, known for "Happy Valley" and "The Tourist," helming the first four episodes, while Ellie Heydon, whose credits include "Outrageous" and "Trying," directs the final two. Stella Merz, recognized for "Miss Austen" and "Gentleman Jack," is the producer for the series.

The commissioning of the series was overseen by Robert Schildhouse, President of BritBox North America and General Manager of BritBox International, alongside Jon Farrar and Stephen Nye on behalf of BritBox. Executive producers from Lookout Point include Katie Draper, Laura Lankester, Louise Mutter, and Juliette Howell, working in association with James Prichard from Agatha Christie Limited. The production companies involved are Lookout Point, a part of BBC Studios, which has a history of successful productions such as "Pride and Prejudice" and "Happy Valley," and Agatha Christie Limited.
